It has an area of 1,575 hectares from the border zone between the cities of Fortaleza and Maracanaú, to the mouth of the Cocó River, in Sabiaguaba. The park features mangroves, dunes, and native forest ecosystems. The best accessible part is the Parque Ecológico do Rio Cocó, the central part of Parque Estadual do Cocó, which has 2 km of interconnected trails and the possibility to make a short boat tour.
