Description
Den Battelaer is a nature reserve of 33 hectares and part of the green belt around Mechelen. It is an old flood plain between the Senne and the Leuven-Dijle canal and many different species of birds can be seen such as Fülemüle, Kékbegy, Berki poszáta, Barátposzáta, Kakukk, Bíbic, Nagy fakopáncs, Zöld küllo, cserregő nádiposzáta, Foltos nádiposzáta, Sárszalonka, Kendermagos réce, Barátréce and Énekes nádiposzáta.

Access
The dikes around Den Battelaer are the perfect path for a walk around the nature reserve. Click on the P in the map for directions. The circular walk on the map is about 5 km long. Easy to combine with a visit to GGG Zennegat (also described on Birdingplaces)
