Description
Even the industrial/urban area in the north of this region harbours quite some good species in winter, like Fütyülő réce, Kendermagos réce, Kontyos réce and Barátréce. They can be common near te sewage works, as do gulls Kis vöcsök and Nyári lúd.
In recent years Bölömbika has become almost annual (often more then one) and some years Barkóscinege turns up. There's a big breeding population of cserregő nádiposzáta (>20 pairs) as do Berki poszáta and Nádi sármány in small numbers. In some years even Kékbegy breeds here.
The meadow areas further to the south, especially those along the railway hold most of the time waders in late winter and spring. Nagy goda, Réti cankó, Erdei cankó, Pajzsoscankó, Kis lile (breeds some years), Havasi partfutó, Sárszalonka, Kis sárszalonka and others are seen annual. In winter this area often holds Havasi pityer. In wet years species as Böjti réce and Kanalas réce can be breeding here. Irregular breeders are Nádi sármány, Berki poszáta and cigánycsuk.
The area more to the south can hold Jégmadár, hegyi billegető, cigánycsuk and the same species mentioned earlier, but chances on these are more remote.
