Access across farmland to central northern section of Mapleton National Park.
No through dirt lane ending in a right of way across fallow farmland to mixed eucalypt woodland and lowland rainforest in central northern section of Mapleton National Park. Typical open country birds such as Straw-necked Ibis, Red-backed Fairywren, Pheasant Coucal and Golden-headed Cisticola and forest birds such as Brown Gerygone, Large-billed Scrubwren, White-naped Honeyeater and Lewin's Honeyeater.
Turn off Eumundi-Kenilworth Rd onto Lockes Lane and park in the pullover / turning bay opposite the long driveway 1.4 km down the road. Walk the remaining 250m of Lockes Lane and go though the gate at the end of the road (leave the gate as you find it). There is a well defined track from the gate to the signed entrance to Mapleton National Park across the field here. Within the forest there are several trails leading to other sections of the park to explore. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 11 km.
