Description
Gandzavank Pond is a small pond near the M10 highway. The pond was formerly a part of Lake Sevan and is surrounded by dry pastures. In winter it's frozen and abandoned, but in late spring and summer you can always find here Vízityúk, Kis vöcsök, sárga billegető , Nádirigó and sometimes Batla and Pásztorgém. In the surrounding pastures and lakeshore forest Kakukk, Búbos banka and Örvös galamb could be encountered. There is a good viewpoint to observe the western part of Lake Sevan where you can observe Szárcsa, Búbos vöcsök and Kontyos réce all year round.

Access
Gandzavank Pond is located on the most western point of Lake Sevan. You can get there by car or taxi from Yerevan or Sevan (town). The site is situated along the M10 highway. It is safe to park near the pond or near Lake Sevan and then go on foot to viewpoints. Press P on the map for directions to a parking spot. The site is quite small, so it takes maximum an hour to visit it.
There are some more ponds along the road, but be aware to walk by the roadside, it might be dangerous!
