Nice panaroma and landscape at the southern San Francisco Bay. Good place to look for Burrowing Owl.
In the San Francisco Bay Area the Shoreline Park has the so called Kite Flying Area. This is a nice area to look out for Burrowing Owl. These owls tend to make their homes at the Bay’s shoreline parks because there live ground squirrels, and the owls depend on the squirrels for their burrows. Other birds you can encounter in this area are Anna's Hummingbird, Turkey Vulture, Red-tailed Hawk, Black Phoebe, Bushtit, Bewick's Wren, Western Bluebird, Lesser Goldfinch, California Towhee and Red-winged Blackbird. And of course on the sea coast you can find many gulls, herons, waders and other birds.
Ample of parking space at the Kite Flying Area parking lot at Mountain View shoreline. Click on the P in the map for directions or coordinates. From the parking you can explore the area on foot. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 3 km.
