This area is under the noisy approach for the Boston Airport. However, probably the best place to find Saltmarsh Sparrow and a lot of waders.
Belle Isle Marsh is Boston's last remaining saltmarsh. The area is a mix of saltmarsh, wooded areas and grassland. The variety of the landscape makes for a surpisingly long list of birds. I went in July and still saw a lot.
Belle Isle Marsh is easily reachable by car, taxi from WInthrop. Parking available in lot inside entrance gate. Click on the P in the map for directions or coordinates. You can follow the paths to the observation tower and several viewpoints and make a circular walk of about 1,5 km. If you stay at Winthrop Piping Plover could be found on the beach.
