Part of Forestry England with walking routes into coniferous woods as well as marshland and small lakes as part of the old mineries.
Stockhill Woods is a well known location to see Leganj in Summer evenings, and has been known for Mala Ušara. The pools opposite are home to Svilorepa and Trstenjak Rogožar as well as Poljska Ševa in the surrounding hills with spectacular views across the Mendip hills.
Stockhill Woods has a car park with plenty of space, which can however get busy on Summer weekends for walkers. If you are heading North on the Old Bristol Road from Wells, you will pass the Hunter's Lodge Inn. Head over the crossroads and the car park is well signed on your right. The circular walk shown on the map is about 2,7 km long.
Take care in the hills around the small lakes opposite the woods, as there is marshland with deep and difficult to pass water.
