Landscaped former colliery now has lakes, cycle track, nature reserve with hay meadow, ant meadow, small ponds, wild boar amphitheatre and cafe.
At the north end of Parc Cwm Darran is a small nature reserve where Kukavica, Livadna Trepetljka, Kukuvija and Zelena žuna are found. Grass snakes, newts, frogs, toads, butterflies, dragonflies around the ponds.
From south, M4 junction 32, follow the A470 then A468 to Caerphilly. Take A469 up the valley (north) past Bargoed. The park is signposted from Bargoed. Click on a P in the map for directions. The entrance is about half a mile north of Deri. Accessible by public transport: Bargoed station is 5 miles away.
