Description

Longrock Beach car park (Fee Payable - Monday to Saturday 0800hrs - 1600hrs, free at other times), is accessible by crossing a railway crossing, BE AWARE DO NOT attempt to cross if WARNING LIGHTS are flashing. Due to West Cornwalls mild weather Lastavica can sometimes be found near car park even in Winter. Eastern Green on the outskirts of the large town of Penzance is known for it's sometimes very large congregation of Gulls (Laridae) especially during Spring/Autumn/Winter months, check flocks for more unusual species such as Troprsti galeb, Mali Galeb, Delaverski galeb, Glaucous Gull, Iceland Gull and Crnoglavi Galeb. An indication of what could turn up is Bonaparte's Gull, Američki crnoglavi galeb, Frenklinov galeb and Ružičasti galeb that have all been seen in the past. Be sure to check out Penzance Harbour, NOTE access may be restricted during busy working hours when boats are unloading.

Battery Rocks, on the seaward side of Penzance Jubilee Swimming Pool is the best place in Cornwall for Morski žalar and high tide roosting Bijeli Žalar during Winter (DO NOT disturb roosting birds by using lower walkway at high tide). Mounts Bay and beach is mostly sandy is South facing, being quite sheltered from the prevailing South West winds. Waders can be low in number with the occasional Kulik Blatarić, Riđa muljača, Oštrigar and Zlatar Pijukavac. At sea in the bay Sjeverni plijenor, Crnogrli Plijenor, Crna patka, Gavka, Ćubasti Gnjurac, Ušati gnjurac and possibly Patka ledara. During Spring look for Dugokljuna Čigra, Crvenokljuna Čigra, Arktička čigra and the possibility of Ružičasta čigra.
