Description

Great Cumbrae Island is a good place to see Bluna which nest on nearby Ailsa Craig. Also auks, terns, skuas, sea ducks especially Patka ledara, shearwaters and Sjeverni zovoj. Waders including Oštrigar, Veliki Pozviždač, Kameničak, Morski žalar best viewed at the north end. Warblers including Pjegavi Cvrčić nest in abundance.

Access

10 minute car or pedestrian ferry from Largs, which is 27 miles west of Glasgow via A760. Train or bus available in Largs. Drive, cycle or walk around the island's coast. Boat trips also available. A circular walk of the island is 16 km/10 miles.
