Big shallow lagoon near the town of Enez that is home to hundreds of waterfowl, waders and migratory birds.
Lake Dalyan is a big lagoon of approximately 1,000 hectares on the Aegean Sea. It is located just south of the Turkish-Greek border in the southern part of the Evros Delta. The shallow lagoon is salty and there is not much vegetation around the sandy shores. But the lake is home to hundreds of waterfowl, waders and migratory birds. Dalyan Lake is famous for its Plamenac, Ružičasti nesit and Kudravi nesit and the many species of waders that can be observed. In winter, also many ducks and grebes visit the lake.
Lake Dalyan is located directly to the west of the town of Enez. From the road that runs through the southern part of the lake and from the adjacent unpaved roads and paths around the lake you can explore the area. There are several places where you can park along the side of the road. Best to explore the unpaved roads and paths on foot. Press a P in the map for directions.
