The Mediterranean lagoon (Akdeniz Gölü) near Gölköy attracts many herons and other birds. Among the birds you can observe at the lake are Siva Čaplja, Velika Bijela Čaplja, Mala Bijela Čaplja and Mali Gnjurac.
