Popular tourist destination on the Turkish Mediterranean coast with marshland, creek, bushy scrub and sea coast.
Reputedly 192 species visit the area and wetlands around the village of Gökova, mostly on migration. That includes 5 species of lark, 4 of wheatear, vagrant falcons. 60 species breed including Žuti Voljić and Veliki Trstenjak. Also Bjeloprsi vodomar can be spotted. Wintering wildfowl such as Kržulja, Patka Lastarka and Crvenovrata guska. Boat trips available along the river and coastline. All seasons good except in summer heat.
