Marsh area, located in the Geneva countryside. Close to Jussy and Meinier.
Marais de Sionnet is located in an area of intensive cultivation. In winter and spring, during heavy rains, the river Seymaz overflows; the surrounding plots and fields are then flooded. In recent years, major work has been carried out in several phases to improve the attractiveness of the site for fauna and flora. During the nesting period, you can observe many interesting species, but also during migration, mainly in April – May and a little less in August – September, but birds can be seen all year round. Among the birds you can encounter are Patka Žličarka, Kržulja, Kokošica, Mali Gnjurac, Kukavica, Siva Čaplja, Čaplja Danguba, Velika Bijela Čaplja, Vivak, Šljuka Kokošica, Prutka Migavica and Krivokljuna Prutka.
