Description
From August to October, numerous thermal gliding birds can be observed passing through the skies around Gurten. The best time is late August and early September. Then large numbers of Škanjac osaš are possible. With a bit of luck, Crna Roda will also pass by. Other regular species are: Škanjac, Kobac, Jastreb, Vjetruša, Sokol Lastavičar, Crvena lunja, Crna lunja, Bukoč, Eja Livadarka, Eja Močvarica and Bijela roda. In later autumn large flocks of Golub Grivnjaš pass by. From time to time Bijela Čiopa can be observed on food flights.

Access
The Gurten hill is located directly south of Bern city center. The best way is to take the Gurtenbahn funicular that runs from the city to the Gurten. From there it is only a 10 minutes walk to the viewing and observation point.
