Description
Stockviken is one of the best birding areas on Gotland. It has two different areas: an inland lake ("inre") with a watchtower and a bay ("ytre"). You can see ducks, geese, Štekavac, Sivkasta Bjeloguza, terns, reedbirds and waders. Many rare species have been seen here over the years. The area's nesting birds include waders such as Crvenonoga Prutka, Oštrigar, Pršljivac, Veliki Pozviždač, Crnorepa Muljača, Modronoga Sabljarka and Žalar Cirikavac, but also other species such as Mala Čigra, Velika čigra and Arktička čigra. Especially in spring – from early April to mid-May – but also during autumn – mainly in October – thousands of Sjevernomorska guska can be seen in the area.
