Description
This is an easy and pleasant introduction to the birds of the Bahia de Cadiz. For best results try to visit on a rising tide so birds will be pushed towards you although any time should produce good birds. A raised path gives you a circular route where you can expect all of the usual waders - Residents like Vlastelica , Modronoga Sabljarka, Kulik Blatarić and Morski Kulik and migrants/winter visitors such as Zlatar Pijukavac , Rđasti Žalar , Bijeli Žalar , Mali Žalar , Krivokljuni Žalar , Žalar Cirikavac , Crnorepa Muljača , Riđa muljača , Prugasti Pozviždač Veliki Pozviždač , Crvenonoga Prutka , Krivokljuna Prutka, Mala Prutka , etc.
Whilst in the area it's also worth checking the village of old Sancti Petri which is on a spit at the mouth of the bay not only for more waders but also gulls and terns (often including Velika čigra ).

Access
From the A 48 east of Chiclana take the Carre. de las Lagunas that cuts across the southern part of Chiclana to Ctra de la Barrosa where you go left towards Sancti Petri. After c1 km look out for a prominent white gateway (Puerto de Carboneros) that marks the start of the footpath and park nearby in the Calle Santa Maria la Morgarizas. (Also accessible by bus from the centre of Chiclana). You can also access the area from the north via Calle Carboneros (running west from just beyond a nearby Lidl store.
) to insert bird names in your own language. The birdnames will automatically be translated for other users!
Spent a morning there at the end of October. Very nice circular walk, two observation huts. Immediately spotted Bukoč with prey, and a little later also Vodomar. Lots of waders! Worth a visit if you're in the area. Can be combined well with Coto de la isleta.
