Huércal-Overa is situated in the basin of the Almanzora River. It's very well known for its desert like landscape, surrounded by mountains. Around the town you find olive farms, fruit trees and vegetable fields. Among the birds you can encounter are Pčelarica, Crvenonoga jarebica, Pupavac, Zmijar, Sivi Ćuk, Thekla's Lark, Daurska Lastavica, Zlatovrana and Black Wheatear.
The town of Huércal-Overa is on the just off the main A7/E15 motorway, which connects the East & South of Spain. There are trails around the town to explore the surroundings. On the map you see an 8 km circular route that takes you to a part of the Rambla del Saltador and surrounds the hill of the Castle of Huércal-Overa.
