Permanently wet river bed close to the sea northwest of the town of Cabo de Gata. A great place for birding.
Rambla de Morales is a permanently wet river bed about a kilometre long. The area is located on the coastline just northwest of the town of Cabo de Gata. It is a fine place to see a lot of ducks and shorebirds away from the concrete roads. Among the birds you can encounter are Èakora, Plamenac, Crnogrli Gnjurac, Europska velika sultanka, Vlastelica, Modronoga Sabljarka, Kulik Blatarić, Bijeli Žalar, Mali Žalar, Veliki Vranac, Siva Čaplja, Iberian Grey Shrike, Thekla's Lark and Kukmasta Ševa.
There is a sandy road of 2 km running from the far edge of Cabo de Gata town to Playa del Charco where you can park. Click on the p in the map for directions. From the parking you can explore the area by mountain bike or just walk around the water. You can also walk a beachside track from Cabo de Gata.
A very nice place with a lot of birds. Especially Èakora. We saw more then twenty of them. More birds were Patka Žličarka, Morski Kulik, Prutka Migavica, Žalar Cirikavac, Ušati gnjurac and Bijeli Žalar.
