Beautiful viewpoints on the Asón valley and waterfall that are located in the Parque Natural de los Collados del Asón.
Collados del Asón Natural Park is located in the Cantabrian Mountains. It is characterized by limestone outcrops, small beech forests, and Cantabrian holm oaks, together with meadows for livestocks. This diverse habitat allows the development of a varied wildlife. The park is located in an area that has traditionally been very unpopulated, which has made it possible for it to be natural and undisturbed. The Mirador de la Cascada del Asón is one of 3 easy accessible viewpoints along the road that are good for relaxed birding and birds of prey. Of course if you want to explore the area more deeply you should do one of the walking trails in the Collados del Asón Natural Park. But for spotting birds of prey the viewpoints are excellent. Among the birds you can see around the viewpoints are Crkavica, Bjeloglavi sup, Zmijar, Crvena lunja, Kobac, Vjetruša, Gavran, Crvenokljuna galica and Hridna lastavica.

Espagnol: El Parque Natural Collados del Asón es un espacio natural protegido español situado en la comunidad autónoma de Cantabria. Se encuentra situado en plena Cordillera Cantábrica al sudeste de Cantabria y la totalidad de su ámbito territorial, con una superficie de 4740 ha. Es un área singular de gran interés, caracterizada por afloramientos calizos, pequeños bosques de hayas y singulares encinares cantábricos, junto a praderías realizadas por el hombre, para el aprovechamiento ganadero. Este hábitat tan diverso, posibilita el desarrollo de una variada fauna silvestre característica de la Cordillera. El parque se localiza en una zona que tradicionalmente ha estado muy despoblada, pero que ha posibilitado que el grado de naturalidad del conjunto sea elevado.
The park is located about 65km southeast of Santander. From Santander take the Cantabrian motorway A-8 to Solares. From there take the CA-161 to La Cavada and from here on the CA-261 in a southeasterly direction to the town of Arredondo, where you can continue along the CA-265 road to the town of Asón, in the heart of the park.The viewpoints all are close to parking spots. You can see the valley of the river Asón. To see the waterfall, you must go down the road somewhat to another viewpoint of the waterfall.

Espagnol: El parque se encuentra a unos 65km al sudeste de Santander. Desde Santander toma la autovía del Cantábrico A-8 hasta Solares. De ahí toma la CA-161 hasta La Cavada y desde aquí por la CA-261 en dirección sudeste hasta la localidad de Arredondo, donde se puede continuar por la carretera CA-265 hasta el pueblo de Asón, en el corazón del parque. Es un mirador situado en el portillo de Asón desde donde puede verse el valle del río Asón. Para ver la cascada debe bajarse algo por la carretera hasta otro mirador de la cascada.
