The mouth of the Vale Vaqueiro stream is one of the richest areas in avifauna in the central Portugal area. 180 bird species have been recorded here. Among the birds you can encounter are Prepelica, Crvenonoga jarebica, Vuga, Pčelarica, Sivi Ćuk, Iberian Grey Shrike, Iberijski zviždak, Crna Roda, Bijela roda, Afrička čiopa, Bukoč, Grlica and Common Waxbill.
