Penha Mountain offers a mix of habitats including pine and oak woodland, granite outcrops, scrubland and small open clearings, supporting a good diversity of birdlife. The woodland areas are ideal for species like Kratkoprsti puzavac, Kukmasta sjenica, Brgljez and Drozd Cikelj, which are relatively easy to find here. In spring and summer, the area becomes more active with singing birds, while in autumn and winter mixed flocks of tits and finches move through the forest. The combination of varied habitats, scenic viewpoints and accessible trails makes Montanha da Penha a rewarding and enjoyable site for birding throughout the year.

Access
Montanha da Penha is located just south-east of Guimarães city centre. The area can be reached easily by car via the road to Penha, with several parking areas available near the sanctuary and main viewpoints. Press P on the map for directions. Public transport is limited, but you can take a bus from Guimarães to the base of the mountain and continue on foot, or use the Penha cable car (Teleférico de Guimarães), which connects the city to the top.
The best way to explore the area is on foot, using the network of trails that cross the woodland and granite outcrops. A visit of 2 to 4 hours is usually enough for a good birding walk, although more time allows for a more relaxed exploration of different habitats. _________________________

O acesso é fácil de carro pela estrada para a Penha, com vários estacionamentos disponíveis perto do santuário e dos principais miradouros. O transporte público é limitado, mas é possível pegar um ônibus de Guimarães até a base da montanha e continuar a pé, ou utilizar o teleférico da Penha (Teleférico de Guimarães), que liga a cidade ao topo.
A melhor maneira de explorar a área é a pé, utilizando a rede de trilhas que atravessam a mata e os afloramentos graníticos. Uma visita de 2 a 4 horas costuma ser suficiente para uma boa caminhada de observação de aves, embora mais tempo permita uma exploração mais tranquila dos diferentes habitats.
