Description
A vast number of bird species can be observed in the Lofoten archipelago. One of the birdrich wetlands on the northwest side of Vestvågøy island is Storeidvatnet. This lake is an Important Bird & Biodiversity Area and has been protected as a nature reserve since 2002. The wetland has a 6.5-metre tall bird observation tower that is easy accessible from the main road E10.
Among the breeding bird in Storeidvatnet are Ušati gnjurac, Kržulja, Zviždara, Patka Žličarka, Patka Lastarka, Krunata Patka, Crvenonoga Prutka, Veliki Pozviždač, Vivak, Oštrigar, Riječni Galeb and Burni Galeb.

Access
Storeidvatnet is located immediately southwest of the town of Leknes. You can park close to the lake along the street. Click on the P in the map for directions to a parking spot. From the parking spot it is only a 200 meter walk to the bird observation tower.
