In the Westerheide Poljska Ševa are still numerous and during the migration period a stretch of meadow is used by Planinski kos and buntings. Crnoglavi Batić can be found on every protruding stem and in summer Sokol Lastavičar can be seen hunting on a variety of dragonflies. Recently, Leganj have started to sing occasionally in this heath area.

Nederlands: De Westerheide is een heidegebied in de buurt van Hilversum. Hier is de Poljska Ševa nog talrijk en tijdens de trekperiode wordt een strook weiland gebruikt door Planinski kos en gorzen. Crnoglavi Batić is te vinden op elke uitstekende stengel en in de zomer is de Sokol Lastavičar te zien jagend op een verscheidenheid aan libellen. Sinds kort zingen Leganj af en toe in dit heidegebied.

Parking can be done at Hilversumseweg 50, Hilversum (La Place restaurant). From the parking lot you can follow several routes onto the heath. Click on the P in the map to get directions. The suggested walking route on the Birdingplaces-map below is about 6,5 km long.
