Description
The Bolgerijen polder, together with the adjacent Autena polder, forms the largest willow plantation in the Netherlands. The alternation of willow groves, wet meadows and poplar forests makes the area special. A birdwatching screen in the Bolgerijen polder provides a view of a shallow pool. In winter you can see ducks and swans in the polder. In spring and summer you can see meadow birds, wading birds and various duck species such as Utva, Patka Žličarka, Crnorepa Muljača, Vivak and Crvenonoga Prutka. The willow groves are home to Crnokapa Grmuša, Siva Grmuša and Močvarna Strnadica. The tall pollard willows are home to cavity nesting birds such as Šumska sova and Planinska sjenica.

Nederlands: De polder Bolgerijen vormt samen met de aangrenzende polder Autena het grootste binnendijkse griendencomplex van Nederland. Het gebied wordt beheerd door het Utrechts Landschap. De afwisseling tussen grienden, hooi- en weilanden en populierenbossen maakt het gebied extra bijzonder. Een vogelkijkscherm in polder Bolgerijen geeft uitzicht op een ondiepe plas. In de winter kun je in de polder eenden en zwanen zien. In het voorjaar en de zomer kun je weidevogels, steltlopers en diverse eendensoorten zien zoals Utva, Patka Žličarka, Crnorepa Muljača, Vivak en Crvenonoga Prutka. In de grienden komen Crnokapa Grmuša, Siva Grmuša en Močvarna Strnadica voor. In de hoge knotwilgen leven holenbroeders als Šumska sova en Planinska sjenica.

Access
The Polder Bolgerijen is located south of the town of Vianen. You will find a parking lot at the Bolgerijse Kade, Vianen. The entrance to the parking lot is next to house number 19. Press P on the map for directions to the parking lot. There are several signposted walking routes through the area. The circular walk indicated on the map is approximately 3 km and takes you past the birdwatching screen. Please note: after rainfall this route can be very muddy and boots are recommended.

Nederlands: De Polder Bolgerijen ligt ten zuiden van Vianen. Een parkeerplaats vind je aan de Bolgerijse Kade, Vianen. De ingang van de parkeerplaats ligt naast huisnummer 19. Druk op P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving naar de parkeerplaats. Er lopen verschillende bewegwijzerde wandelroutes door het gebied. De rondwandeling die is aangegeven op de kaart is ongeveer 3 km en voert langs het vogelkijkscherm. Let op: na regenval kan deze route erg drassig zijn en zijn laarzen aan te raden.
