Water from the dunes runs towards the south point of Texel. Het Grote Vlak consists of a few lakes in this water course.

Description

Het Grote Vlak often holds a lot of ducks ( Patka Žličarka , Patka Kreketaljka , Patka Lastarka , Utva , Zviždara and in spring Patka Pupčanica ), gulls and grebes. Sometimes waders, like Crnorepa Muljača , are abundant and few songbirds, like Planinska trepteljka and Crnoglavi Batić (sometimes even Modrovoljka ), can be found. The area is also good for finding Golub Dupljaš , Sivkasta Bjeloguza and in winter Škanjac gaćaš .

Access

Het Grote Vlak is easily accessible from the village of Den Hoorn towards the beach. You can park on the roadside, but try to give way to cyclists on the parallel cycle path.
