Description
Naturschutzgebiet Ruggeller Riet is a nature reserve of 90 hectares with wet meadows, ponds, hedges, woodland and moorland in the valley of the Alpine Rhine. The reserve is protected as a Ramsar site. The site supports an exceptional floral diversity and also attracts many birds. Among the birds you can observe are Crvena lunja, Crna lunja, Škanjac, Vjetruša, Bijela roda, Siva Čaplja, Velika Bijela Čaplja, Zelena žuna, Veliki Djetlić, Rusi Svračak, Poljska Ševa, Trstenjak Mlakar, Kukavica, Slavuj, Žuta strnadica, Smeđoglavi Batić, Močvarna Strnadica, Vodomar, Veliki Trstenjak, Poljski Vrabac and Crnoglavi Batić. In summertime Kosac is heard. Crvenonoga Vjetruša and Veliki svračak pass by.

Naturschutzgebiet Ruggeller Riet is located near the village of Ruggell, in the north of Liechtenstein, near the border with Austria and Switzerland. Limited parking is available either on Fällagass by the small barn or on Noflerstrasse.
You can explore the area by walking or cycling the rural roads and paths. You are not allowed to leave the paths and roads and enter the fields. Some paths can be closed during the breeding season.
