Description

Hopeland is part of the Wexford Harbour and Slobs special protection area and in winter it regularly holds nationally important numbers of Grivasta guska and Utva.

Low tide is best for the most variety of species, particularly waders, but high tide is also good for large roosting flocks and for ducks such as Patka Batoglavica, Patka ledara and Mali ronac. Mali Sokol can be readily encountered in the area in winter, while Eja Strnjarica can also be observed on occasion.
