Description

Chinna Veerampattinam Beach (also known as Eden Beach) is a sand beach at the mouth of the Chunnambar river south of Pondicherry. Immediately behind the shoreline, there is an interesting backwater area, including a shallow water zone, where various waders, gulls, and terns can be seen during winter and migration. This makes Chinna Veerampattinam the best place to observe shorebirds in the Pondicherry area. The beach can be extremely crowded especially during weekends, but the backwater area where the birds are found is usually quieter.
