Description
Höfði Woodland Park is located on the eastern side of Lake Mývatn and consists of a beautiful forested area adjacent to the lake. Several pathways lead through a diverse habitat with scattered trees, strange rock formations and great views over the lake. The park is a good spot for local breeding birds, such as Sjeverna juričica, Mali Drozd and Palčić. During migration, anything can show up here! Especially finches, like Zeba, Sjeverna Zeba and Zimovka have been seen in the past.
The rocky parts are particular good for Alpska snježnica. The area is also used as hunting ground by Sjeverni sokol.
The views over the lake provide observations of many species of waterbird, like Barrow's Goldeneye, Patka crninka, Tankokljuna liskonoga, Mali ronac and Patka ledara.
