The road between Mavria and Platania is a great road to stop and drive along, and to observe many local breeding species, like Voljić maslinar, Istočna velika grmuša and Bjelobrka Grmuša. The small houses and farms a worth a check for Sivi Ćuk, and the scattered trees are perfect for Ševa Krunica. The scrubs and bushes are great for many species of shrike, like Riđoglavi Svračak and Crnokapi svračak. The rocky outcrops are great for Brgljez kamenjar and Istočna strnadica.
During migration, the area is worth to check for species like Zlatovrana, Pčelarica and Vuga. Raptors are always present, and tend to hang around the hill tops, like Riđi škanjac.
