Description
Alexandros Salt Pans are clearly no longer used for salt production. There are several small lagoons by the beach at the south side and the tarmac road follows the beach. A good dirt track continues along the embankment all the way, finishing as a dead end after 2.4 kilometres.
I visited the site in September during high tide (a dozen of both Crnoglavi Galeb and Dugokljuna Čigra, Galeb klaukavac, Velika čigra, Mali Vranac and Veliki Vranac, Mala Bijela Čaplja, Šivalica), was somewhat surprised by the low number of birds, so I returned during low tide, only to find even fewer birds and not a single shorebird.
Local eBird hotspot also mention Svilorepa, Daurska Lastavica, Kudravi nesit, Plamenac, Mala Čigra, Smeđa čiopa, Morski Kulik, Prugasti Pozviždač, Crvenonoga Prutka, and Krivokljuna Prutka.
