Description
Especially in winter the bay of Wohlenberger Wiek is worth visiting with a high possibility to spot Patka crninka. The birds come into the bay when it is windy to seek protection from the wind. Then you can see up to 1000 Patka crninka and, with luck and patience, Ušati gnjurac and Crnogrli Gnjurac. Sometimes you can also see divers, such as Crnogrli Plijenor. On the way there, you should also keep an eye on the fields, as there is a chance to spot Siva vrana, Žutokljuni Labud and maybe even Mali labud. For photographers this is not a very good place, because the birds are mostly up to 700m out at the sea.
In summer birds like Kulik Blatarić, Veliki Pozviždač and Poljski Vrabac can be observed. Patka ledara, Crna patka, Gavka, Mali ronac and Patka kulašica can be spotted too. Access
You can park close to Wohlenberger Wiek, just north of the village of Hohen Wieschendorf. Click on the P in the map for directions. From the parking it is about a 600 meter walk to get to the best viewpoint. It is also possible to get to the viewpoint by bike.
