A 650 hectare landscape conservation area in the Rhine lowlands near Schwetzingen.
Landscape conservation area LSG Schwetzinger Wiesen consists of a mosaic of different habitats. In addition to quarry ponds, there are hedges, willow bushes and extensively used lowland meadows. This landscape offers space for many, sometimes rare, animals and plants. You can observe many water-dependent birds such as Krunata Patka, Siva Guska, Egipatska guska and Patka Pupčanica.
Bijela roda and, more rarely, the Crna Roda can also be seen . Waders such as Crnokrila Prutka, Prutka Migavica, Šljuka Kokošica, Vivak, Krivokljuna Prutka and Kulik Sljepčić often rest on the mudflats. Sometimes, especially during migration, rarities can be found here, such as Žličarka, Blistavi Ibis, , Rusogrla trepteljka, Mala Bijela Čaplja and Prugasti Pozviždač.
LSG Schwetzinger Wiesen is located directly west of the village of Brühl near Schwetzingen. Parking is available in Brühl. Press a P on the map for directions. The best way to get around the area is on foot. The circular route indicated on the map is about 3,5 km.
