Description
The Holter Hammrich polder is divided into two parts. The western, 143-hectare section "Leyßer Hammrich" was designed as a habitat for meadow birds. It is extensively managed as grassland except for a pond that already existed before the redesign. The eastern, 80-hectare section "Altes Tief" is not cultivated. Here, a diverse mosaic of shallow water zones, shrubs, reed beds and wet grassland was created. Among the breeding birds are Crnorepa Muljača, Modronoga Sabljarka, Vivak, Šljuka Kokošica, Crvenonoga Prutka, Veliki Pozviždač, Oštrigar. Poljska Ševa, Crnoglavi Batić, Modrovoljka and Močvarna Strnadica.
