Description

A Gačac is quite a shy bird, but in the large colony at Kurpark Bad Segeberg you can get quite close to them, especially during the nesting season in summer. During the breeding season they are unmistakable and unmissable, the nests are close together in the small forest, through which several paths lead. When the young birds have fledged, usually at the beginning of June, they can be observed on the adjacent 'Landesturnierplatz', where they wait for food from their parents. The Landesturnierplatz consists mainly of grassland and is used several times a year for equestrian tournaments.

In addition to Gačac, the park has the typical songbirds for a small mixed forest, Brgljez, Zeba, Velika Sjenica, Plavetna Sjenica and many more. It's also worth taking a detour along the footpaths to Lake Segeberg. A circular path leads around the lake and offers the opportunity to see various ducks, herons, grebes and, in winter, sometimes Žutokljuni Labud and Patka Batoglavica.
