Description
Kiesseen Prettin is a body of water of 112 hectare located on the Elbe River near Prettin. Characteristic are the shoals and the sandbanks, some of which lie in the middle of the water. Almost 50 breeding bird species are known on the site. The waterfowl include Crvenokljuni Labud and Liska. The vertical bank walls are inhabited by Bregunica, and Oštrigar breeds on the gravelly flat banks. Trstenjak cvrkutić, Trstenjak Mlakar and Močvarna Strnadica live in the reed beds, while Slavuj and Sjenica Mošnjarka live in the damp wood along the banks. The dry bushes are inhabited by Rusi Svračak, Grmuša Pjenica and Grmuša čevrljinka, while Vjetruša, Vuga and Poljski Vrabac breed in the trees. Trčka, Smeđoglavi Batić, Kukmasta Ševa and Sivkasta Bjeloguza live on the ruderal and barren areas. The gravel lakes are also important for resting migrating waterfowl, especially Tundra guska, Lisasta Guska, Glavata Patka, Krunata Patka and Veliki ronac.
