Description
Waders stop at the Holzendorfer See during the spring and autumn migration. Maybe not in huge numbers, but there is a large species diversity: Pršljivac, Vivak, Krivokljuna Prutka, Crna Prutka, Crvenonoga Prutka, Prutka Migavica, Mala Prutka, Crnokrila Prutka, Žalar Cirikavac, Krivokljuni Žalar, Mali Žalar, Sijedi Žalar, Kulik Blatarić and Šljuka Kokošica. There is a chance for rarer species like Plosnatokljuni Žalar, Rđasti Žalar and Bijeli Žalar. Also observed here are Pectoral Sandpiper and Bjelorepi vivak. In the spring, all the "spring" ducks also stop here: Patka Žličarka, Patka Lastarka, Patka Pupčanica, Kržulja and Zviždara. In late autumn you can meet here a large number of Ždral and Žutokljuni Labud. During the breeding season Vivak, Crvenokljuna Čigra, Kulik Sljepčić and Siva Guska nest here.

Preferably by car. Holzendorfer See is about 15 minutes from Prenzlau. The village of Holzendorf can also be reached by bus. The route along the lake runs along an overgrown dirt road from the village on the southern bank of the water reservoir, from where there is the best access.
