Description
The wet meadows of Elzwiesen are irrigated in March, August and November. End of March/ start of April and August are the best times to watch migrating birds on the flooded meadows. Common migrating spiecies are Prutka Migavica , Pršljivac , Krivokljuna Prutka , Riječni Galeb and Patka Pupčanica. Also rarer species like Žličarka , Prugasti Pozviždač and Crnorepa Muljača can sometimes be found on the irrigated areas.
Breeding birds are Veliki Pozviždač , Vivak , Slavuj and Rusi Svračak. Many Velika Bijela Čaplja , Siva Čaplja and Bijela roda can be observed feeding in the area. The meadows are irrigated in steps from south to north. So most times only one part of the area is flooded. Note that the area has limited access from March to June.
