Beautiful protected heathland with around 600 ha in total and around 250 ha of open land is located close to the village of Drove.
The Drover Heide is a former military training area and today a nature reserve. About 120 ha of the total area is accounted for by the actual heathland, 290 ha on forest areas, 150 ha are fenced and grazed by cattle and goats, so that the heath is kept short. To date, more than 130 bird species have been observed in the area. Among the birds you can see are Livadna Trepetljka, Crnoglavi Batić, Rusi Svračak, Ševa Krunica and Leganj.
Access from the village of Drove or Stockheim by foot or by bike. If you arrive by car, leave the car on the parking at the K28. See the P on the map. (https://goo.gl/maps/PWPt6zQMpxKUtgzL9). The walking route shown on the map is about 12 km.
In the nature reserve you can only walk on marked trails. Some areas and trails can be seasonally closed during the breeding season for the protection of breeding birds. Please note the information!
