Description
Borkum is the largest of the East Frisian islands and therefore scenically varied and attractive. There are great hiking trails, a harbor and beautiful dunes and beaches. This Wadden Sea island is a resting point for many birds. Many beautiful bird species can be found on the Wadden side of Borkum, such as Žličarka, Arktička čigra and Crvenokljuna Čigra. On the beach side you can see gulls, ducks, terns and if you are lucky Crvenogrli Plijenor, Veliki pomornik or Širorepi pomornik.
Countless waders like Riđa muljača, Oštrigar, Veliki Pozviždač, Crvenonoga Prutka and Žalar Cirikavac scurry through the mudflats and songbirds rest in bushes and dunes. Due to the migration of small birds, the island has a high potential for the observation of rarities. In northwesterly winds, seabirds such as shearwaters or Bluna, Oštrokljuna njorka, Tankokljuna njorka and Troprsti galeb can appear, in easterly winds Siberian warblers.
