Description
During spring and autumn migration the Gonio fields and its bushes, and even the coast along the busy sea promenade can be full of birds. Rusogrla trepteljka, Vrtna strnadica, Limunasta Pastirica or Pjegava Grmuša can all be expected. The pond close to Gonio football pitch and the reedbeds close to the entrance to Chorokhi can also be very rewarding, with sometimes an absurd amount of birds (like Siva Štijoka, Čapljica Voljak, Crnoprugasti Trstenjak). Especially the shoreline can be crowded, but normally there is no hunting here (in contrast to Chorokhi).

Access
Gonio is located about 12 km south of Batumi. Park in the south of Gonio village. Press P on the map for directions. Alternatively you can catch the bus that runs from Batumi to Sarpi and get out in Gonio. The third, very easy way to get there, is to use the 'taxi' apps Yandex or Bolt.
