Description
Pointe de la Coubre becomes very interesting during spring and autumn migration, just before or after birds cross the Gironde. Migrating species include Bukoč, Eja Močvarica, Velika čigra, Planinski kos, Crnoglava Muharica.
Breeding species include Modrovoljka, Kukmasta Ševa, Primorska Trepetljka, Šivalica, Juričica, Gorski zviždak. On the ocean side of the beach breeds Morski Kulik which nests are fenced and protected every year.
Wintering species include Crna patka, Veliki pomornik and all sorts of waders and ducks (Rđasti Žalar, Kulik Blatarić, Veliki Pozviždač, Crnorepa Muljača, Zlatar Pijukavac).

Access
How to get there: By bike - bike trails from Rochefort (60km) and Royan (20km). Follow "Phare de la Coubre". By car - Follow "Phare de la Coubre" to get to the car park. Free car park but closed at night.
How to visit: on foot only, free access. From the car park, go south and follow the dunes. You can go to the very end of the sandpit that faces La Palmyre across the strait (5km one way, 10km round trip by foot).
