13,000 hectare floodplain on north bank of the river Adour east of Saubusse. Useful birding place when flooded. 880 ha protected for hunting and 93ha conserved.
The area of Les Barthes de L'Adour attracts swans, geese and dabbling ducks when flooded. When the floods retreat you can see waders, such as Žalar Cirikavac, Mala Prutka, egrets and Galeb klaukavac. Many birds breed in the area including Bijela roda and Šivalica. Kosac visit on passage and Štekavac is a winter visitor.
Difficult to access by car when flooded, and telescope essential. Parking places as shown on the map. Nearest train stations is at Saubusse. The walking/cycling routes suggested are between 3 km and 6 km.
