Description
Artzamendi is located in the heights of the Atlantic Pyrenees. It is a starting point for mountain treks but also a superb site for stargazing in the evening (one of the rare dark spots within reach of Bayonne) and above all for what interests us, birds. It is a mountain site covered with low grass and few trees. You often come across Bjeloglavi sup and quite often Crvena lunja and Vjetruša, recently I have also seen Sivi Sokol, and Zmijar. For small birds it's mostly Sivkasta Bjeloguza and Mrka Crvenrepka I think.

Français: Le site d'Artzamendi est à la frontière entre l'espagne et la france, dans les hauteurs des Pyrénées atlantiques. C'est un site de départ de trek en montagne mais un superbe site aussi pour l'observation des étoiles le soir (un des rares points sombre à portée de bayonne) et surtout pour ce qui nous interesse, des oiseaux. C'est un site de montagne couvert d'herbes basses et arbustes et de rares arbres. Assez haut (900m), avec de beaux dénivellés en fonction des endroits où l'on souhaite aller.
On y croise très souvent des rapaces de divers types Bjeloglavi sup et Crvena lunja ainsi que le Vjetruša , recement j'y ai vu aussi le Sivi Sokol , et le Zmijar . Coté petits oiseaux c'est surtout du Sivkasta Bjeloguza et Mrka Crvenrepka je pense.

Access
It is reached by PAS DE ROLAND, near ITXASSOU. It is possible and strongly recommended to go up there by car, there is almost 30-40 minutes of climbing, on foot it is 3-4 hours I think. It is possible to stop at several very beautiful places between these two points.

Français: On y accede par le PAS DE ROLAND, pres d'ITXASSOU. Il est possible et fortement conseillé d'y monter en voiture, il y a presque 30-40min de monté, à pieds c'est 3-4h je pense. Il est possible de s'arréter à plusieurs endroits très beaux entre ces deux points.
