Description

The Porslahti communal gardens attract a variety of bird species in spring, summer and autumn. The regular Vrabac , Velika Sjenica and Poljski Vrabac are common birds in the gardens but it's also easy to come across birds like Brezov Zviždak , Zviždak , Grmuša Pjenica , Grmuša čevrljinka , Crvendać, Palčić and Češljugar. Especially in late summer. Šumska Crvenperka , Smeđoglavi Batić and Modrovoljka have also been seen in the gardens during late summer and early autumn. Due to the high amount of small birds in the area, it's also possible to spot Kobac and Jastreb hunting in the area.

The small foresty area next to the gardens can also surprise birders positively. In autumn and winter time, the forest can attract berry eating birds like Zimovka , Drozd Bravenjak and Kos. Zlatoglavi Kraljić likes to hunt for insects in the coniferous trees throughout the year and Siva žuna, Kratkokljuni puzavac and Dugorepa Sjenica have been seen in the area as well.

As an added bonus, the gardens themselves are also lovely to look at when flowers are in full bloom and vegetables start to grow. Please be mindful when visiting and photographing to not disturb the gardeners too much to make birders welcome in the future too. While the paths around the gardens are public space the gardens themselves are off limits and should not be entered.
