City park in Helsinki with good view towards the sea. In the summer, around 600 Sjevernomorska guska graze in the park.
Kaivopuisto is one of the oldest and best known parks in central Helsinki. The park is a mix of old trees and large grasslands/lawns. To the south, Kaivopuisto borders the Gulf of Finland. The park is a good place for migration bird count during the spring and autumn. Among the birds you can observe are Sjevernomorska guska, Juričica, Sivkasta Bjeloguza, Žuta Pastirica and Velika čigra. In good visibility Crna njorka can be seen on Gråhara Island (sea lighthouse).
Kaivopuisto is easy to reach on foot from the center of Helsinki. There is a tram stop nearby and two parking spaces for cars. Click on a P in the map for directions.
