Crocodile Island (aka King's Island, Maritim Jolie Ville, Jazirat al Awamiyyah) at Luxor has wetland habitat, open water, and lush irrigated hotel gardens.
Crocodile Island is located in the river Nile. The reedbeds and wetlands line the shore on both sides of the bridge to the mainland. Look for Mala Bijela Čaplja, Čaplja Govedarica, Čaplja Danguba, Europska velika sultanka, Sokol Lastavičar, Bjelonokta Vjetruša, Eja Močvarica, Vodomar šarac, Bukoč, Bijela lunja, wintering dabbling ducks and waders.
The hotel gardens are a refuge for smaller birds and migrants such as Pčelarica, Asian Green Bee-eater, Vuga, Ćuk, Pupavac, Grlica, Leganj, Vijoglav, Rusi Svračak and various warblers.
Luxor is a popular tourist destination with its own airport. Trains from Cairo take about 10 hours. Crocodile Island is located in the river Nile just south of Luxor. From the city centre there are plentiful buses and taxis.
