To protect water resources from contamination, Vandsamarbejdet, Sønderborg Kommune og Naturstyrelsen bought farmland and started a reforestation project. At Oksbøl Skov you can encounter birds like Crvena lunja, Šumska Crvenperka, Kukavica, Dugorepa Sjenica, Crnokapa Grmuša, Siva Grmuša, Grmuša čevrljinka, Grmuša Pjenica and Žuta strnadica.
